Oil Below $95!
I thought I would never see this again, oil below $95 a barrel. The price of a barrel dropped more than $7 in morning trading. Mainly because investors are scared of what’s going on in the U.S. Markets and with Ike. For the time being it looks like Hurricane Ike did less damage than expected. What is going on around us and in the world is really hard to put your harms around. We’re in a real global economic melt down with no real relief insight. World stock exchanges are down across the board with some down over 50%. And with all the U.S. banking problems things are only going to get worse. Now that the Lehman Brothers company filing for bankruptcy protection the only other question is, who’s next?
Las Vegas Golfing!
At times I come across things related to what I love to do. And I just came across something I really wanted to share with all of you. So with that being said, I found a site that offers great Las Vegas golf packages at affordable prices. This site is jam packed with deals that will fit your budget. One of the courses that looked pretty cool to me was the Reflection Bay Golf Club. This course was the first public golf course to open at the Lake Las Vegas Resort. And what I really like about this course is that it’s long. It’s over 7,200 yards, which could make for a challenge for most of us. Wall Street Bankers!
Here we again, another major investment banking group is about to fold come Monday morning. Right now the U.S. Government and top Wall Street bankers are trying to come up with away to stop this from happening. What everyone is trying to do is sell Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. to avoid a collapse of the investment bank. If Lehman Brothers collapse so will the Dow and other stock markets around the world. I did read that Barclays PLC, which is Britain’s third-largest bank just backed out of buying Lehman Brothers. They where the one’s ready to take over and then something went wrong. Someone close to the bank stated that the “chances of buying Lehman Brothers was very unlikely.” Now what’s going to happen? The only one’s left at the table is Bank of America Corp., which is our nation’s biggest retail bank, and few other several private-equity firms. Hopefully the talks will pickup with the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department executives with the other banks still in the hunt for a great deal. If talks fail and there’s no deal by tonight the stock markets around the world will fall sharply.
Moment of silence 9/11!
As this day rolls on for most Americans we can truly never forget. On this day 9/11/2001, America came under attack by terrorist. It was one of the saddest days in America’s history. Thousand’s of America’s lost their lives. September 11, 2008 is considered “the day the world stop turning”. We will mark the seventh anniversary of Sept. 11 with a moment of silence for the victims that lost their lives. There are going to be ceremonies at the World Trade Center “ground zero” site as well as the Pentagon. And we must never forget the site in Shanksville, Pa., where the passengers stood up to their hijackers and brought that plane down before it was able to kill more people. I was reading that Barack Obama and John McCain are due at ground zero today to pay their respects to the men, women and children who lost their lives that horrible day. We must never forget this day.
