Long Standing Record!
It’s been 70 years since Gehrig’s Yankee hit record of 2,721 was set for the breaking. And the man that broke that record was no other than long standing Yankee Derek Jeter. Jeter started his major league career in 1992 with the Yankees. Breaking records in today’s time is almost unheard of. Players never last long with the same teams. The players back then played because they loved the game. Players today play for the money. They go to the highest paying team, just how it is. This will kill major league baseball, I don’t even watch anymore because of this. But Jeter isn’t this way, I believe he loves to play, that’s why he was able to break this team record. Here’s what Jeter said about Lou Gehrig “It’s just kind of mind-boggling to have my name next to his”. Lou Gehrig is one of the greatest Yankee and major league player ever, and Derek Jeter is as well.
