Email Service Only!

I was just reading about a device being sold in Target stores. The device is called “Peek,” and only offers email service on the go. The idea behind this new device is a lot of people out there are just looking to receive emails. The company starting this a start up company looking to fill what the BlackBerry dropped. Yes, if you didn’t’ know this already, the BlackBerry once only offered email. Now the BlackBerry offers phone services and a whole lot of other bells and whistles. Anyway, if your looking for just email services you can pick a Peek up at Target for around $100 with a month fee of $20. The great thing about the monthly fee is no contract is required. I have no idea if this new device will take off, but who really knows, look what happened with the BlackBerry.

Silverlight Technology!

If any of you watched any or all the Olympic games online you needed Silverlight from Microsoft.  This new technology from Microsoft one day could take over Adobe’s Flash technology.  What you saw on NBC’s site was amazing, and hands down way better than Adobe’s Flash.  I was reading that 40 million people from the U.S. viewed the almost 2,200 hours of the Olympics on NBC’s site.  That means 40 million new downloads of the Silverlight technology.  Which in the end was Microsoft’s goal, new users.  If you don’t have Silverlight on your computer you should go to their site and download it, I think it’s amazing.

Microsoft Photosynth!

Microsoft has a new web tool, Photosynth, which is designed to give your viewers a much better of viewing your digital photos. I was reading about this new tool and it sounds like a great new thing. I also went to view the site also and it looked as good as it sounded. This is how it basically works, you will first need to download the software. Then you will need to select a collection of images your hard drive you plan on sharing. Then software crunches the files so Photosynth can stitch together the images into a panoramic scene. I haven’t tried it yet, but I do have plans on downloading the software to give it a look over. There’s already a lot of images on the site, which include partners like the National Geographic Society. Click here to check it out for yourself.

iPhone 3G Connection!

The iPhone 3G connection problems may never be fixed.  Since this phone was released dropped calls have been the big problem.  Now Apple Inc. is stating that the update sent out Tuesday may only fix some of the problems.  The other problem is a faulty 3G chipset from the maker Infineon Technologies.  And the only way to really fix this is to get a new chip in there.  Here’s what I read on why the drop call occurs.  It happens when the call is sent from the 3G network to a slower network.  The transfer is sent only when 3G network isn’t available.  Once again it will be a waiting game to see if this will ever be fixed.
